and Response" is inspired by 80s modern pop. Gina uses
a contrasting colour palette of white, silver, black and orange
with metallic/lame and soft jersey/georgette fabrics. The result

Yang
Graduating with an Honours Degree in Architecture and an acute
sensitivity for the structural form led Gary Yang to the realisation
that architecture can translate over to fashion design with the
same principle in mind, proportion. The Barcelona Pavilion by
Mies van der Rohe was the source of inspiration for Gary's debut
collection ‘Woman of the Pavilion’. Sharing the same
language as the building, the collection translates the geometrical
purity of the building into wearable garments. These appear as
pleating, clean line silhouettes and curvedness, reflecting the
bronze woman sculpture in the pavilion.

Hughes Signware
Cautionary street signage is designed to scream its presence.
It is rich and compelling in the landscape yet with familiarity
can remain invisible amid the sheer everydayness of the streetscape.
Lifting familiar motifs into a jewellery context re-examines the
subject, shifting the iconography into fiction. Linda's Hughes'
intention is to elevate the commonplace which may lead to a compelling
presence as jewellery... bold, stop the traffic, wearable pieces.

Markings
Alana Clifton-Cunningham utilises traditional
and contemporary knitting techniques to explore the knitted
form as a kind of ‘second skin’. Knitting here functions
as a vehicle for deconstruction with familiar garment edifices
transformed into disarticulated ‘body pieces’. Alana
incorporates elements of mixed media in her design practices
including laser cut timber veneer and leather, exploring juxtapositions
such as hard and soft, rough and smooth, mass and gradation.
She also focuses on the traditional practice of body scarification.
