Launched in 2005 as a side project for interior designer Marta Niegowska, Bilingual Design made its debut at the Powerhouse Museum Designer Markets. Niegowska designs unisex pieces to wholly explore a concept, all the while testing herself not to produce something overly masculine or feminine. Collections are concise and well thought out, with each piece being worn and tested by the designer herself. The results are ergonomic and intriguing pieces that feel timeless but modern.

‘Eclipse’ is the latest collection from Niegowska. The series of rings, bangles & earrings are inspired by the natural attributing factors that precede the occurrence of an eclipse. The smooth, organic curves are divided to form two distinct peaks that represent the anticipation of the relatively rare lunar &/or solar total eclipse. Each design has been meticulously created & finished by hand with a contrasting combination of satin silver & gunmetal oxidised silver.

The new Shadow Earrings (pictured below) have been inspired by the phenomena of a total eclipse. The elliptical arcs that form the earring orbit one another and depending which ear they are worn give the wearer two quite different looks. The dual finish of oxidised gunmetal and satin sterling silver not only give the piece a strong three dimensional appearance but they also represent the contrasting black & white of a solar eclipse.

Also very popular is Bilingual’s wedding band collection which is based on what a wedding ring can represent, ‘the journey that two people share.’ All Bilingual wedding bands are designed unisex enabling matching rings to unite a partnership for an eternity.
