Having always had a penchant for design and an obsession with accessories,
Mogil founder and designer Gil Cowen was inspired by a trip to Bali
in 2001, where her attention was taken by the extraordinary skills
of local leather craftsmen. Gil soon began thinking of ways she could
apply the traditional handmade aesthetic into her own designs.
Beginning life on a borrowed $1,000 as a small 10-piece range of leather
handbags and belts, which Gil pieced together in the hours away from
her full time job, the Mogil signature style was quickly defined and
remains today what it was then – luxury leather goods executed
in simple yet sophisticated styles.
It's an instantly recognisable utilitarian style met with a raw sophisticated
twist that is Mogil's signature look. Featuring unique buckle applications,
blended skin finishes and detailed construction, every piece becomes
an instant classic.

The Mogil Girl loves leather. Her look is pretty punk. She wears metallics
clashed with neutrals. She contrasts multi-buckled belts with don’t
care slouch bags to the side. She is ready for anything. Lives life
to the full and is probably a traveller and always a dreamer. She
is positive. She works hard.
By day she tricks up her 9 to 5 wear with a brightly coloured slouch
bag and double tied, killer heeled boots. By the weekend she might
be vintage influenced, carrying a spliced leather clutch mixed with
plaited gladiator sandals. The key is always about contrast and the
unexpected.

With
what is set to be their best collection to date, Mogil Winter is about
challenging not only your perception of proportions, but also of what
is. Anything but ordinary, blending what is, what is yet to be, and
what was. Are you ready to play the Mogil game?
Think bags so big you can even take your pet, and boots so high you
need not wear anything else. They are no longer just a statement,
but the outfit itself. Mogil is introducing stunning graphic prints
so dramatic, that they could not resist but extend the look to silk
scarves.
